On behalf of our client, a multinational leading company in the field of travel industry we are currently looking for a self-driven Senior Database Administrator to join their top-quality Engineering department based in Athens.

A day in the life of a Senior Database Administrator

You will be an expert in Database administration principles and able to demonstrate a good knowledge on Microsoft databases. You must be driven, hard-working and passionate about databases and committed to produce high quality services.

Your day-to-day

• Create and maintain all databases required for development, testing and production usage
• Liaise with programmers, operational staff, IT project managers and other technical staff to support development and data analytics
• Be responsible for effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation and maintenance of SQL Server database, database software and related infrastructure
• Ensure that production databases are secure, have minimal downtime and are tuned for optimal performance and response time
• Take on a key role to ensure that related procedures meet the organizational needs
• Manage database integrity and backup and restore procedures
• Apply security patching and conduct version upgrade

What you will need

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science or Information Technology
• 5+ years of professional experience in the relevant field
• Solid knowledge of Microsoft SQL server 2017
• Appropriate engineering qualifications or certifications of Microsoft SQL Server would be an advantage
• Exposure in Oracle 11g/12c will be considered an asset
• Knowledge of MongoDB / Kafka / Hive is also an asset
• Fluent English (written and spoken)
